Heavy rain hampers traffic, sea travel
Roads were flooded in Attica on Wednesday as heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds caused vehicles to be immobilized in pools of water on busy streets, while the fire department responded to numerous calls to pump out water in Ilion, Menidi, Egaleo, Zefyri and Thrakomakedones, all areas situated in eastern Athens.
Boats remained docked at the ports of Piraeus and Lavrio, while services operated on schedule at the port of Rafina.
Rainstorms were also being observed in the Ionian Sea, Epirus, western Central Greece, western Peloponnese, Thrace and the eastern part of the Aegean Sea. Meanwhile, snow was expected on the same day on mountainous areas in western Greece as well as parts of Epirus and western Central Greece.
