Quarry entrepreneur arrested for 2.4-mln-euro tax bill
Police in the western port of Patra on Friday detained a 53-year-old local businessman in connection with an unpaid tax bill of 2.4 million euros.
The man, who is in the quarrying business, was to face a prosecutor on charges of withholding taxes from the state.
Authorities have arrested dozens of individuals and entrepreneurs over the past few months as part of an intensified crackdown on tax evasion which is aimed at raising much-needed revenue.
