Locals seek to block plans for artificial hill on Thessaloniki promenade
About 200 Thessaloniki residents are expected to appeal to the Council of State, the country’s highest administrative court, on Tuesday in an effort to block the construction of an artificial hill, part of a new architectural project for the development of the northern port city’s coastline.
The locals, who all live in the area around the city’s Makedonia Palace Hotel, argue that the artificial hill will block the sea view, have a negative impact on the environment and decrease the commercial values of their properties.
