Police arrest 24 illegal lending ring members on Corfu

Police revealed on Friday that they have arrested 24 people on the island of Corfu in connection with a usury ring thought to have netted 2 million euros over the last seven years.

The gang preyed on indebted businessmen, lending them money at monthly interest rates that reached 100 percent.

Police said as many as 63 people are suspected of involvement in the illegal lending and blackmail of victims.
