Bank robbers’ trail points to recent bomb attacks

A memory stick found at an apartment in Athens allegedly used by the four suspects arrested in Velvento, northern Greece, last week for two bank robberies contains segments of proclamations issued after a number of recent terrorist attacks, police sources said.

The device has parts of proclamations made after bomb attacks on the homes of former Finance Minister Yiannos Papantoniou, ex-Environment Ministry general secretary Maria Kaltsa and the offices of Transam Trading Co late last year. The raids were claimed by groups calling themselves Fires on the Horizon and Militant Minority.

A magistrate in Kozani remanded the four men, aged 20 to 25, in custody on Wednesday.

In a statement posted on the Internet, members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire urban guerrilla group awaiting trial denied that any of the four suspects were part of their organization.
