Police clash with farmers on Athens-Lamia highway

Tensions rose on the Athens-Lamia national highway in Anthili on Wednesday, when farmers stemming from the prefectures of Fthiotida and Viotia clashed with riot police units who used tear gas to disperse them.

Two police officers and four farmers were slightly injured, Skai reported.

Farmerms are holding one-hour rallies this week as a means of protest against government policies, including a decision to increase taxes in the farming sector.
