Police search Athens apartment linked to arrested Velvento bank robbers

Police officers were searching on Tuesday an apartment in the area of Tourkovounia, northwestern Athens, which according to reports had been rented to one of the suspects arrested in connection to a double bank robbery in Velvento, northern Greece, earlier this month.

During the search, police discovered 10 fake identity cards, a military rifle cartridge, handwritten notes containing personal details of Greek citizens and an assembly of explosive devices, among other findings.

Four suspects were arrested after the Velvento robberies. Aged 20 to 25, the suspects have been linked to the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire urban guerilla group.
