Fewer babies born in Greece last year

About 15,000 fewer babies were born in Greece in 2012, compared to the year before, according to figures provided by the Areteoin hospital, Skai reports.

Experts attribute the drop to the country’s lingering debt crisis.

The number of deaths exceeded the number of births, according to the same report.

A total of 106,777 children were born in 2011, the report said. The number of people who died on the same year was 110,726.
