Sharp rise in middle and high school dropouts in Thessaloniki

Representatives from 10 primary education associations in Thessaloniki suggested on Friday that the number of students that had dropped out of middle and high school in the northern port city shot up to 25 percent last year, compared to 12 percent in 2009.

They said that an increasing number of teenagers are dropping out of school in order to find work and help their families.
