Greece rejects ‘groundless’ Turkish media claims about Kurdish terror camps near Athens
Greece has dismissed as “groundless” claims in the Turkish media that the government has closed down two Kurdish terrorist training camps near Athens following talks between Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“The Turkish newspapers’ claims are groundless and a product of the imagination,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Grigoris Delavekouras in a statement.
“Terrorist training camps never opened or existed in Lavrio or anywhere else in Greece, so they can’t have been closed. It seems that there are those in Turkey who are irritated by the clear positions and good climate in Greek-Turkish relations evident from the joint press conference of the two Prime Ministers.”
