Police to take holiday travel measures as weather set to worsen
Police will be imposing special travel measures on highways leading in and out of the country’s big cities in light of increased traffic as Greeks celebrate the end of Carnival on Sunday and Clean Monday the next day.
These measures include banning large trucks during rush hour periods and conducting more highway patrols.
Travelers are advised to exercise caution as the weather is expected to deteriorate further on Saturday, with rain and thunderstorms in southern parts and the Eastern Aegean, and snowfall on the mountains.
The weather will improve slightly on Sunday, though temperatures will remain low in central and northern parts.
Clean Monday will see scattered clouds, with brief showers in the west and light snowfall in the mountains of the north.
