Demolitions on Crete postponed in view of upcoming tourist season
Regional authorities in Crete have postponed the demolition of illegal structures on the coast of Iraklio until the end of the summer amid concern over their impact on much-needed tourism.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Antonis Samaras last week, the local association of travel agents said that the demolitions were receiving widespread publicity and could negatively influence potential tourists to the popular Cretan coast.
