Free fruit for Greek school kids has passed quality tests, says ministry

All the fruit – including portions of fruit salad – that is being distributed for free to thousands of schoolchildren around the country has undergone and passed quality tests, the Agricultural Development Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday, rebuffing press reports suggesting otherwise.

The government heralded the drive to distribute free fruit to more than 360,000 pupils at 3,522 state schools as part of a campaign to educate children on healthy eating.
