Patriarch Vartholomaios to meet Pope Francis
Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomaios was expected to meet with newly-enthroned Pope Francis at the Vatican on Wednesday, AMNA reported.
On Tuesday, Vartholomaios became the first ecumenical patriarch to attend a Papal installment mass since the Great Schism that divided the Greek Orthodox and Roman churches in 1054.
According to sources, Vartholomaios was poised to extend an official invitation to the new Pope to visit the Eucemenical Patriarchate in Istanbul.
