Santorini is Europe’s top island, world’s fifth, TripAdvisor survey finds
Santorini, Greece’s most famous island, has topped a list of Europe’s best islands in a survey of travelers.
Cephalonia, Naxos and Zakynthos were also in the European top 10 list complied by TripAdvisor travel website.
Known for its cubic white-washed houses and breath-taking cliff views, Santorini, a volcanic rock located at the heart of the south Aegean Sea, also ranked fifth among the world’s best islands, according to the TripAdvisor survey.
First place went to Ambergris Caye, the largest island of Belize located northeast of the country in the Caribbean Sea, a popular destination among scuba divers.
TripAdvisor’s list was based on millions of reviews and ratings posted by tourists from all over the world over the past year.
