More than 51,000 bogus pensions stopped in past two years
A total of 51,551 pensions have been stopped over the past two years because they were claimed illegally or the claimants had died, Labor Minister Yiannis Vroutsis said on Thursday in response to an MP’s question.
He said that the bogus pension claims had been discovered as a result of censuses at all social security funds. He estimates that Greece will save about 320 million euros a year after carrying out the checks.
