Prosecutor charges 20 over Skouries gold mine arson attack
A prosecutor in Halkidiki on Thursday filed 19 charges, including seven felonies, against 20 people suspected of taking part in an arson attack last month on the offices and vehicles of Hellas Gold at the Skouries mine.
All 20 suspects that have been detained so far are being charged.
The charges come in the wake of the suspects providing written depositions to the police on Tuesday.
Among the seven felony charges is attempted murder as security guards have testified that the assailants fired hunting rifles at them.
Locals criticized police after the incident, claiming that they were forcing suspects to provide DNA under duress.
