Coalition partners to meet Wednesday on troika talks
Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and his coalition partners, PASOK chief Evangelos Venizelos and Fotis Kouvelis of Democratic Left are to meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday to finalize the government’s stance on a range of issues — including a planned overhaul of the civil service and possible changes to the way that a controversial property tax is levied — ahead of the anticipated arrival of troika mission chiefs in Athens on Thursday.
The pending issues must be broached if Greece is to secure the next tranche of rescue loans, a sum of 2.8 billion euros.
The finances of the country’s beleaguered social insurance companies and the thorny issue of state debts are also on the agenda of talks.
