Over 700 Greek couples have taken advantage of civil union law since 2008
At least 775 couples have signed civil unions, known here as cohabitation pacts, since legislation was introduced in 2008.
The figure was provided by Alternate Interior Minister Haralambos Athanassiou following a parliamentary inquiry by Golden Dawn MP Christos Pappas, who demanded guarantees that the pact will not be made available to same-sex couples.
Justice Minister Antonis Roupakiotis said the matter is under deliberation.
