Disruptions in sea, train and air travel

Ferries across Greece were expected to remain moored on Wednesday as members of the Panhellenic Seamen’s Union (PNO) were set to participate in a 24-hour strike to protest draft legislation which according to unionists paves the way for the abolition of collective labor contracts that safeguard wage levels and other benefits.

Disruptions were also expected in services on the national railway and the Proastiakos suburban railway from Wednesday through Friday, as employees protest cutbacks by embarking on rolling eight-hour walkouts starting at 4 p.m. each day.

Air travel was expected to be affected on Thursday, as air-traffic controllers join a 24-hour walkout announced by their union on Tuesday. The latter are reacting to a Transport Ministry bill that foresees the overhaul of their sector.
