Tsipras slams Greek coalition as being at mercy of lenders
Alexis Tsipras, leader of main opposition party SYRIZA, on Wednesday accused the three-party coalition of being the “three hierarchs” at the mercy of German chancellor Angela Merkel.
Speaking at a press conference in Athens, Tsipras said it was tragic that the government partners were the ones negotiating the country’s future and also accused the current administration of using the Cyprus crisis for political gains.
He also argued that SYRIZA was ready to govern and resist, primarily through the nurturing alliances with southern European countries.
“We will not accept reconciliation with the memorandums,” he said.
The SYZIRA chief also noted that the government’s consolidation program was a “bubble” and there were no plans for growth whatsoever.
“The time has come to change tunes for those dominating Greece and in order for this to happen the government must change as soon as possible,” he added.
