Venizelos, Kasidiaris clash during Lagarde probe

A hearing of the parliamentary committee investigating the so-called Lagarde list of possible tax cheats was disrupted Thursday as Ilias Kasidiaris, a far right MP and member of the panel, clashed with PASOK chief Evangelos Venizelos.

“You are ridiculous and fat,” Kasidiaris reportedly told Greece’s former finance minister who had been invited to testify about the scandal.

Venizelos had earlier made sarcastic remarks over a heated disagreement between Kasidiaris and conservative MP Antonis Georgiadis. The far right Golden Dawn spokesman had criticized Georgiadis of seeking to protect Venizelos by constantly interrupting his questions. Venizelos left the room during the furor that also involved SYRIZA MP Zoi Konstantopoulou, also a member of the panel.

“There is a lot of tension because of testosterone,” Venizelos said outside the room.

“It’s a matter of endocrinology. In any case, medical science has not concluded whether psychiatry precedes endocrinology or vice versa,” he added.

Kasidiaris was subsequently expelled from the hearing.
