Lagarde panel chief invites ex PM Papandreou to testify
Christos Markoyiannakis, the head of a parliamentary committee set up to probe the political responsibility for the mishandling of the so-called Lagarde list of wealthy Greek depositors, reportedly telephoned former socialist Prime Minister George Papandreou ahead of the latter’s anticipated deposition before the panel next Tuesday.
According to sources, Papandreou told Markoyiannakis that he had not yet decided whether he would turn up to committee in person or submit written testimony.
The panel reconvened on Friday following Thursday’s stormy session which featured
arguments between rival politicians, the use of strong language and the smashing of a glass and a microphone by ultra-right Golden Dawn spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris.
