Ex-policeman charged with selling protection to gambling dens
A retired policeman was placed in pretrial custody on Friday over allegations he sold protection to illegal gambling dens in Thessaloniki.
Another policeman who was questioned in connection to the same case was released on bail.
A total of 24 police officers are being investigated on suspicion of tipping off owners of stores with illegal slot machines about imminent checks between 2007 and 2010.
Nine owners are also under investigation.
