Court starts to hear appeal against The Mall
After several postponements, the Council of State on Friday began hearing an appeal against legality of The Mall, a shopping center in Maroussi, northern Athens.
The first complaint by residents against The Mall, which covers 58,500 square meters and has 90,000 square meters of underground parking, was lodged in 2004. They argued that the laws allowing the shopping center to be built were unconstitutional.
Judges debated on Friday at the country’s highest administrative court whether a law passed before the national elections last summer, which changed the way land could be used in Maroussi, meant that the shopping center now complied with legislation.
