Greek seamen call 24-hour strike for April 16
The union representing Greek seamen called on Tuesday a 24-hour nationwide strike for next Tuesday, April 16.
The strike will mean that all vessels will remain tied up from 6 a.m. on April 16 until 6 a.m. the following day.
The workers believe the government’s plan for liberalizing coastal shipping will lead to fewer routes and will result in job losses. The draft bill outlining the plan is due to be debated in Parliament on the day of the strike.
