Greece ranks 25th out of 29 in the well-being of its children

Greece is near the bottom of a UNICEF child well-being ranking released Wednesday.

The latest report, made public by the United Nations Children’s Fund, on the well-being of children in rich countries ranked Greece 25th out of 29 countries.

The Netherlands ranked first overall, followed by Norway and Iceland. Romania was last.

The latest report focuses on five areas: health and safety; behavior and risk; material well-being; education; housing and environment. It is an update of UNICEF’s first attempt in 2007 to compare child well-being in states that are members of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Greek children’s views about their own well-being, however, were radically different, as they ranked their country at 5th place. Dutch kids were here also on top of the list.
