Central Athens school kids cut class to protest poor conditions
Pupils at the 73rd Primary School of Athens, located in Thiseio, have stopped going to classes in protest at the condition of the building.
Members of the school’s parent-teacher association said that they fear their children are no longer safe in the building. They added that the City of Athens’s town-planning department had deemed the school, built in 1957, unsafe in 2010.
The parents said that paint and plaster are peeling and large cracks have appeared in the walls and ceilings. They called on Mayor Giorgos Kaminis to take action.
