Sailors, port workers, suburban railway employees on strike
There will be no ferry services in Greece on Tuesday as sailors have decided to strike in protest at a multi-bill submitted to Parliament by the Merchant Marine Ministry that unions say will make seamen’s jobs less secure.
Port workers have also called work stoppages for Tuesday.
The 24-hour strike will begin at 6 a.m. The unions said they would also be holding protests on May 1.
Meanwhile, services on the Attica suburban railway (Proastiakos) and intercity trains will continue to face disruption until Thursday as Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) workers will be holding four-hour stoppages between 8 p.m. and midnight every day.
The action will not affect the metro service to Athens International Airport, officials said.
