Greece seeks funding for journals for academic institutions
Greece will attempt to cover the 10-million-euro annual cost for academic institutions to subscribe to international journals through European Union-funded programs, it emerged on Wednesday.
The move comes after Kathimerini revealed that about a third of the publishing houses supplying the institutions with material had stopped doing so because subscriptions had expired.
It has subsequently emerged that the Education Ministry is seeking approval for the subscriptions to be funded from the EU co-financed National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF).
If this move is successful, the funding would cover some 40,000 periodicals supplied by 22 publishing houses.
