Parliament to get party funding probe results
Financial prosecutors are preparing to send the findings of their investigations into party funding to Parliament even though a recently passed law means that bank employees who approved loans for political groups in questionable circumstances are unlikely to face charges.
Kathimerini has learned that the prosecutors, who have questioned officials from New Democracy and PASOK over their parties’ combined debts of more than 200 million euros, are determined that the results of their probe should reach Parliament.
However, the coalition passed an amendment earlier this month that appears to provide legal protection to the officials who approved the loans for the parties.
