Tax inspectors to strike on Tuesday amid concern about sackings

Tax inspectors are to go on strike on Tuesday due to concerns about possible sackings of colleagues.

The inspectors said the strike was aimed at warning the government against firings and any move to pass tax collection to private companies.

The strike has the support of the civil servants’ union, ADEDY.

The government has said it will sack 15,000 civil servants by the end of next year but said that they would mostly consisted of bureaucrats who have breached the code of conduct and those who work at organizations that will be merged or shut down.
