Protesters detained for replacing Greek flag with banner
Police on Wednesday detained a group of 30 protesters who had replaced a Greek flag with their own banner outside the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on the same day.
The banner, which read “Raise your voice against state censorship,” was erected in protest to the closing down of Indymedia, a controversial website known for hosting anti-authoritarian, anarchist and anti-capitalist material.
The website was shut down last week along with a radio station run by the same activists.
