Farmers protest tax on photovoltaic systems
Farmers who have installed photovoltaic systems on their cultivations in a bid to boost their income on Friday staged a protest rally outside the Environment and Energy Ministry on Mesogeion Street to protest excessive taxation.
The farmers, who were expected to air their grievances during a meeting with Deputy Environment and Energy Minister Asimakis Papageorgiou, claim that their investments are no longer profitable due to the increased tax burden and to demands from banks that extended them loans that they pay further interest.
Commenting on Friday, the main leftist opposition SYRIZA said that «the dream of investment in photovoltaic systems has turned out to be a nightmare.»
