Multi-bill submitted to Parl’t ahead of Sunday’s vote

A multi-bill including a series of so-called «prior actions» pledged by Greece to its international creditors, including 15,000 layoffs in the civil service by the end of 2014, was submitted in Parliament on Friday afternoon ahead of a scheduled vote on Sunday evening.

At 10 a.m. on Saturday MPs on Parliament’s economic affairs committee are to start debating the multi-bill, which had two provisions removed on Thursday following inter-ministerial disputes about civil servants and pensions that led to a mini crisis in the government. On Sunday at 11 a.m. the debate is to shift to Parliament’s plenary session.

Apart from the contentious issue of layoffs in the public sector, the multi-bill foresees a 15 percent reduction to the emergency property tax as well as facilitating Greeks with tax or social security debts who will be allowed to pay off their dues in instalments over two years.
