Kiosk owner who led movement in march from Volos to Athens found hanged

A kiosk owner from Volos who had formed a citizens’ movement that saw members walk to Athens to highlight the problems faced by businesses in central Greece has been found hanged.

Costas Kogias, 70, was found hanged in his home on Saturday afternoon. Police suspect he committed suicide.

He had set up the Citizens’ Movement for Hope, whose members walked the 324 kilometers from Volos to Athens in October over 11 days.

Kogias was the president of the city’s kiosk owners’ union and the association of local traders.
