PASOK and Democratic Left unhappy with employment agency chief being replaced
New Democracy’s coalition partners, PASOK and Democratic Left, have criticized Labor Minister Yiannis Vroutsis’s decision to replace the head of Greece’s Manpower Organization (OAED).
The former head of the IKA social security fund, Theodoros Abatzoglou, was named the new OAED chief on Monday, replacing Vassilis Kikilias.
Vroutsis had criticized Kikilias recently and demanded his resignation.
However, the decision to replace him with Abatzoglou, a figure closely associated with New Democracy, was slammed by PASOK and Democratic Left.
“This does not help the smooth functioning and effectiveness of the coalition government,” said the Socialists.
“We believe such moves do not contribute to the effective functioning of the government,” said Democratic Left.
