Golden Dawn plans new food handout for ‘Greek families’ in Athens’s main square
Far-right party Golden Dawn has said it plans to hand out free food in Athens’s main square on Thursday.
Golden Dawn carried out a similar handout in Syntagma Square last year, drawing criticism for demanding to see people’s identity cards before providing food to ensure the goods only went to Greeks, not migrants.
The party said that Thursday’s event, when it will hand out traditional Easter products such as lamb and eggs, is to help “thousands of Greek families who are being blighted by the genocidal policies of the memorandum.”
