EX-PM’s mother, Margaret Papandreou, files suits over claims linking her to Lagarde list

Ex-Prime Minister George Papandreou’s mother, Margaret Papandreou, has filed law suits against several newspapers and three Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) officials over allegations that she was linked to one of the accounts on the Lagarde list of depositors.

Papandreou, 90, has sued Vima, Proto Thema and Dimokratia newspapers, asking for 200,000 euros in damages from each and the six-month imprisonment of their publishers.

She is also taking action against SDOE officials Stelios Stasinopoulos, Evangelos Karamanos and Nikos Lekkas.

The publications quoted SDOE officials as saying that Margaret Papandreou was behind a 500-million-dollar account on the Lagarde list. The 90-year-old dismissed the claims and said in a statement on Tuesday that they aimed to damage the reputation of her family.
