A 35-year-old male fugitive from Trikala Prison, who was arrested while trying to rob a supermarket in Peristeri, western Athens, on Friday, is to face a magistrate Wednesday.
The fugitive, identified by the media as Albanian national Ermal Lita, was charged on Saturday with robbery, attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons and escaping from prison.
The fugitive held up the store with an accomplice who evaded police.
The 35-year-old was part of a group of 11 inmates that escaped from Trikala Prison in central Greece last month.
A few days after the breakout, a motorist was killed in a shootout between some of the escapees and police.
