Education minister to meet with schoolteachers’ union board
Education Minister Constantinos Arvanitopoulos is expected to meet with members of the board of OLME, the union representing secondary school teachers, on Wednesday, amid warnings that the educators’ union might proceed with strike action during the national university entrance exams, which begin on May 17.
The teaching staff union is threatening industrial action with regard to the planned layoffs of approximately 10,000 contract teachers and plans to increase teaching hours from 21 to 23 per week.
