Man dies in crash with car evading police capture

A 46-year-old man was killed and his 27-year-old passenger injured when a car that was being chased by police on the Athens-Thessaloniki national road crashed into their vehicle and sent it spinning out of control.

The accident happened on the south-bound section of the highway near the Pyrgetos toll booth in Larissa, central Greece, when police were chasing a reckless driver on the north-bound lane and he executed a U-turn into the south-bound lane to evade capture, crashing into the 46-year-old’s car.

The driver of the out-of-control vehicle was arrested at the scene of the accident and is being treated for injuries, while his passenger, who has not been identified, is at large and being sought for questioning.
