Suspect in murder of elderly couple in Ioannina in custody
A 30-year-old Albanian national believed to have murdered an elderly couple in their home in the village of Ktismata Pogoniou, in the northwestern prefecture of Ioannina, on Saturday night, was on Monday given additional time to prepare his defense.
The unnamed suspect, who is believed to be a drug addict, is to face an investigating magistrate again on Wednesday.
He is alleged to have killed the 72-year-old man and his 73-year-old wife in their home by striking them on the head with a stone before burgling the property.
Earlier on Saturday, the same suspect is alleged to have carried out two robberies while wielding hand grenades.
