Minister, MPs face charges after Greek Parliament lifts immunity
Parliament voted on Wednesday to lift the immunity of New Democracy MP and Tourism Minister Olga Kefaloyianni, ND deputy and former Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis, ultra-right Golden Dawn deputy Ilias Panayiotaros and independent MP Odysseas Voudouris.
The move means Kefaloyianni and Panayiotaros can be prosecuted for slander, Kaklamanis for breach of duty and Voudouris, who is a doctor, for manslaughter.
Parliament voted against another motion to lift the immunity of left-wing SYRIZA MP Petros Tatsopoulos who had been sued by Golden Dawn’s parliamentary spokesman Christos Pappas for slander.
