Armed robbers net 1 mln euros at Larissa bank

Two armed robbers made off with 1 million euros in a raid on a branch of National Bank in the main square of Larissa, central Greece, on Thursday

According to witnesses, the robbers pretended to be bank customers before pulling out their weapons – a pistol and a Kalashnikov assault rifle – and forcing clerks to hand over the money in the branch’s vaults.

The pair jumped through an open window and fled on foot.

A burned vehicle found outside the city is thought to be the pair’s getaway car.
