Two racist gang members held over arson attack on migrant cafe
Two Greek men, both aged 34, arrested in connection with an arson attack on the coffee bar of a Cameroonian national in the run-down central Athens neighborhood of Aghios Panteleimonas on Monday night appear to be members of a racist gang, police said on Thursday.
According to police spokesman Christos Parthenis, a search by officers revealed “slogans and symbols of a particular political party” on the bedroom wardrobe of one of the suspects.
A photograph released by police showed slogans on the wardrobe expressing support for the ultra-right Golden Dawn, which has been linked to an increase in attacks on immigrants.
