Greek defense minister to meet Russian counterpart in Moscow

Greek Defense Minister Panos Panayiotopoulos is due to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu in Moscow next week in what is being seen as a precursor to an official visit to Russia by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

Panayiotopoulos will be in the Russian capital for an international conference on European security from May 22 to 24.

He is expected to discuss the possible revival of defense relations between the two countries when he meets with Shoigu, as well as making use of Russian help and assistance in fighting wildfires.

It is expected that Samaras’s visit will follow in the next few months.
