Rioters cause damage, attack police after Patra concert shut down
A group of concert-goers clashed with police in the western port city of Patra late on Friday after local residents complained of the noise coming from a music event on central Ethnikis Antistasis Square.
Police were conducting random checks on bars and cafes along the popular nightlife strip when residents complained of a concert that was taking place on the main square.
After the event was shut down, a group of youths began attacking officers with stones and firebombs, while the violence poured out into nearby streets with rioters smashing store windows and cars, and setting fire to garbage cans.
