School fruit being checked after reports of bad quality
The fruit distributed at Greece’s state schools is undergoing a series of emergency quality control inspections, according to a statement on Monday by Agricultural Development Minister Athanasios Tsaftaris.
The move comes in the wake of complaints that rotten fruit had been found at a number of schools in Iraklio, Crete.
According to the ministry the inspections are being conducted at agricultural facilities where products are packaged and stored.
