PM to brief president on China, Azerbaijan visits, hold talks with Gazprom

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras was expected to meet with President Karolos Papoulias on Tuesday in order to inform him of his recent visits to China and Azerbaijan where opportunities for investment and privatization in Greece where investigated.

The meeting was scheduled to take place at 2.30 p.m.

Also on Tuesday, Samaras was expected to meet with Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller who is on his third visit to Athens since March, as the Russian gas giant steps up its interest in the Greek privatization process.

Gazprom is the leading suitor for Greece’s Public Gas Corporation (DEPA) and is believed to have already secured a reduction in the size of the guarantee that must be submitted before the sale of the utility is approved.
